Happy Halloween!!!

Y'all.  Fall is a favorite of mine.  Growing up, we had lots of fall "tradition" kind of things.  My mom would always decorate our house all fall like.  We would make the pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies (which I still do on my own, by the way).  Football was always on TV on Saturday.  Our house would fill up with the smell of soup cooking on the stove.

Since moving away from home, I've tried to recreate that fall feeling.   This fall has really not felt like it, though.  I'm talking to you, heat.  Anyway, that still didn't prevent me from at least trying to do some fall things.

This weekend I spent some time doing Halloween themed activities.  I've watched a couple Disney channel Halloween movies.  I went to a costume party and a graveyard.  And I carved a pumpkin today, just in time for Halloween tomorrow.  However, the only people that will see it are the two girls that live across from me. Now I'm gonna go eat some Halloween candy!

Baller on a Budget

SO the other day my sister and I went to Goodwill and I got something so amazing I just had to share.

As I was scrounging through tons of jeans to find a pair to cut into shorts, I was stopped by something bedazzled.  Low and behold I had found a pair of blinged out Jordache jeans... the thrifting jackpot!

Naturally, I want to wear these every single day of my life.

I think I spent less than $30 on this entire outfit... Just goes to show ya, you can be a baller on a budget!!

denim & band tees

I really just love when vintage pieces come back in style again.  I am just in love with the denim skirt look.  It is so cute and versatile.

My roomie got dressed the other day and came out in her thrifted denim skirt and I was like, "what the heck I was gonna wear mine today!" and I did not even care that we matched so I wore mine anyway.  Plus it was a perfect opportunity for a photo op.

Now that it is getting warm outside you will probably spot me wearing this a ton.  Sorry 'bout it.

Happy Monday everyone.

Spring Break

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a Southern Culture, Music, and Civil Rights Tour with my school.  We traveled through Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.  It was so cool to be able to visit more places in the south and learn all about the history and culture of those places.

In Memphis we went to the Lorraine Motel, visited the National Civil Rights Museum, went to Beale Street (which btw is much better than Broadway-less people, no horses, and better music), and went to Sun Studio!

In New Orleans we ate Po' Boys, walked the French Quarter, stalked celebrities' houses, and danced on Frenchmen Street.

Alabama had a really cool mix of civil rights monuments and music sites.  One highlight of the tour was visiting Dr. King's parsonage in Montgomery.  Our tour guide, Ms. Cherry was phenomenal and she made the tour very inspiring and powerful.  Our last stop was Muscle Shoals, Alabama where some incredible artists have created some of the best music we know.

I seriously would do that tour over and over and over if I could.  If you have the chance, go visit some of these places!!

throwback

One thing I want to do more of on this blog is outfit posts! I haven't really been on top of it, but here is the first outfit post of the year!

I like this outfit because it is very inspired by the 90s.  I totally feel like Rachel Green in this outfit.

This outfit has been one of my favorites of the year so far!

snow daze

This past weekend in Nashville, there was a blizzard.  I have never in my life seen this much snow! I woke up Friday morning due to thunder so I just assumed it was raining.  I checked my emails and had gotten a message saying that all classes were cancelled. So when I looked outside, all I saw was white!

So of course we went out and played in it!

We had such a fun time playing in the snow, but then I was immediately tired of it.  After being stuck and stranded inside for several days, I don't think I ever want to see snow again.

Bring on spring!!

Happy 2016!

2015 has come to a close and a new year has begun. Can you even believe that?
This past year brought many ups and downs, tears of joy and sadness, tons of laughter and smiles.

This past year I started The Plethora Place expecting to update it all the time.  I had so many ideas, thoughts, and visions I wanted to feature here during 2015.  I had a certain idea of what this blog was going to be and how I was going to execute running it.  However, I quickly learned that it was much more difficult than I had expected it to be!  Like many things, life got in the way and I got caught up in things that had to be done rather than things I wanted to do so, this blog got pushed to the side.

However, I am still passionate about blogging!  I love all that goes into it.  Planning posts, creating content, sharing my life... I really enjoy it, so I'm not giving it up.  This blog will still be a project of mine in 2016!  It is definitely a work in progress, but I am excited to see how this blog challenges me in this new year!

Wishing you all a prosperous and happy year!
